Ms. Mary Gina Connor is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work and Sociology at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky and her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Denver, in Denver Colorado. She also completed 328 hour of Swedish Language study at Arbetes Marknad Utbuilding in Katrineholm, Sweden. Ms. Connor has extensive training in a number of areas including; crisis intervention and brief therapy modalities, systems theory, solution focused treatments, divorce mediation, parent coordination, and jury selection and mitigation in capital murder cases.
Ms. Connor began her career working as a Project Advisor and Consultant to the 10th World Conference of Therapeutic Communities in Bangkok, Thailand. She co-presented on Transactional Analysis in a number of settings in Thailand and New Zealand. Upon returning to the United States, she worked as a Dropout Prevention Coordinator in Durham, North Carolina and also worked part-time as a Crisis Intervention Specialist for the city of Durham, in affiliation with Duke University Medical Center. She then moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she was the director of a therapeutic group home for adolescent girls. When the group home was closed due to funding issues, she began working as a crisis/screening therapist at Indian Rivers Mental Health Center. Ms. Connor then returned to Northern Kentucky where she worked for seven plus years at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in their Employee Assistance Program. In this role she conducted assessments and therapy for individuals and couples and also worked in the corporate setting presenting on a number of topics related to the workplace. She also consulted with businesses providing assessments and recommendations to improve work place satisfaction and productivity. In 2004, Ms. Connor opened her private practice.
Ms. Connor has a diverse practice which utilizes her multiple skill sets. She provides individual therapy services to children, youth, adolescents and adults. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety and depression. She also provides couples and families counseling utilizing a systems approach. Ms. Connor works as a consultant to area businesses; assisting with hiring, workplace trainings, employee retention and satisfaction and systems efficiency. She also mediates conflicts in the workplace utilizing a solution focused approach. Ms. Connor also practices in a variety of forensic related social work roles including conducting court ordered consultations, assessments and treatment. She specializes in the growing field of parent coordination, divorce mediation, jury selection and mitigation in capital murder cases and sentencing advocacy. Ms. Connor has worked as in expert in over 35 capital murder cases.
